Corporate Information Governance Officer
Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council is looking for an experienced Corporate Information Governance Officer to join our small and friendly Information Governance (IG) Team. The role supports employees of the Council, Solihull Community Housing and Schools in all matters relating to Information Governance.
Responsibilities
* Research, interpret and apply complex IG legislation relating to Data Protection, Freedom of Information, Environmental Information Regulations, Records Management and Information Security.
* Provide advice and guidance to employees, ensuring legal compliance with legislation, standards and official guidance.
* Manage information requests from the public under the Freedom of Information Act, Environmental Information Regulations and subject access requests under Data Protection legislation.
* Assess and advise on information risks, complete data protection impact assessments and investigate data breaches.
* Work collaboratively with IG Officers, a Records Manager and an Information Governance Manager.
Qualifications
* Information Governance qualification in Data Protection or Freedom of Information, or equivalent knowledge gained through extensive relevant experience.
* Knowledge and experience with IG legislation and precedents.
* Ability to provide timely, innovative solutions to complex or unusual problems.
* Proactive follow‑up on legislative changes, case law, guidance and other IG matters.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with stakeholders.
* Experience designing and delivering training for a variety of audiences.
