KR 1 Clinical and Client Care
• Toprovide highlyspecialist psychological assessments,formulationsand interventions for clients in the adult eating disorder service,at levels expected of a psychologist who has achieved the equivalent of a PG Diploma-worth of post-qualification specialist development.
• To provide culturallyappropriate psychologicalinterventions with carers or families of referred clients whenrequired.
• To assess andmonitorrisk and draw upappropriate riskmanagement plans.
KR 2 Contributing to team or service clinical functioning
• To contribute to the effective working of the team or service and to a psychologically informed framework for the service.
• To contribute to the team or service’s delivery of accessible and acceptable services to diverse local communities.
• To be proactive in challenging discrimination and support the development of culturally competent services.
• Toadviseother members of the service on specialist psychological care of clientswith eating disorders.
• To liaise with referrers, GPs and other professionals concerned with clientsin order todevelop and review care plans.
• To utilise theory, evidence-basedliteratureand research to supportevidence basedpractice in individual work and work with other team members.
KR 3 Policy and service development
• To implement policies and procedures in own area of work, and to propose improvements or beneficial changes.
• To contribute to service development through undertaking andparticipatinginappropriate projects.
• To contribute to the consultation and engagement of service users in planning and delivering services which meet the needs of local communities.
KR 4 Care or management of resources
• To take care of, and use carefully, the Trust’s equipment and physical resources.
• To ensure that the post-holder has sufficient resources by estimating future needs and requesting or ordering supplies as needed.
KR 5 Management and supervision
Line Management Responsibilities
• Provide line management supervision to a small number of more junior psychologists/psychotherapists and/or psychological practitioners within theEating Disordersservice,in accordance withTrust policies and under the guidance of senior psychologists or relevant service or clinical leads.
• Oversee areas such as performance, wellbeing, attendance, mandatory training compliance, and caseload monitoring.
• Participate in the appraisal (PDR) process for more junior staff and contribute to recruitment and induction activities, asappropriate.
• Escalate concernsregardingperformance, conduct, or wellbeingin a timely mannerand in line with Trust policy.
• Contribute to workforce planning and the development of junior staff roles within the service.
Clinical Supervision Responsibilities
• Provide regular clinical supervision to more junior psychologists/psychotherapists and/or other psychological professionalsin accordance withTrust policy and professional guidelines, with support from a more senior psychologist.
• Supervise the psychological work of multidisciplinary colleagues whereappropriate.
• Offer clinical supervision to trainee applied psychologists in own area of specialism, ensuring supervision supports their development and meets training requirements.
• Maintainaccuraterecords of supervision and support a culture of reflective practice and clinical learning within the team.
KR 6 Teaching and Training
• To undertake occasional teaching and training ofpre-and post- qualification psychologists and specialised training to other professions asappropriate.
• To contribute to the development of the knowledge and skills base within theeating disorders servicebymaintainingan active awareness of current developments in psychology/psychotherapy and eating disordersand by implementing knowledge gained in practice.
• Todisseminateresearch and service evaluation findings through presentations and published articles, whereappropriate.
KR 7 Record-keeping and Information Governance
• To ensure that all information generated by own work is recorded as required by Trust policies and local procedures.
• Tomaintainthe highest standards of clinical record keeping and report writing, according to professional and Trust guidelines, including electronic data entry.
KR 8 Research and development
• Tosupport and supervise complex service evaluation and audits.
• Toinitiateand carry outappropriate research, whereappropriateand as agreedwith others in the eating disorders service(NB: not a major job requirement [major = 20% or more of job]).
• To provideexpertisein a specialist research area which will contribute tothe eating disorders service, whereappropriateand as agreed with others in the eating disorders service.
• Toinitiateand implement the development of outcome measurement and assessment andassistother staff in the implementation of same.
KR 9 Maintaining professional standards and continuing professional development
• To receive regular clinical and professional supervision from a more senior psychologist/psychotherapistaccording to HCPC and Trust guidelines(and any other relevant guidelines according to accrediting body).
• To ensure own Continuing Professional Development in line with BPS and Trust Personal Development Plan requirements and the HCPC ‘Standards for Continuing Professional Development’(and any other relevant guidelines according to accrediting body).
• Tomaintainan up-to-date knowledge of current developments in professional and clinical practice and of relevant legislation and policies.
• Tocomply withthe HCPC ‘Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics’ and ‘Standards of Proficiency’,and ensure professional development in line with these.
• To adhere to the BPS’s Professional Practice Guidelines and Trust policies and procedures.
KR10 General
• To travel tomeetingsasappropriateand across the Trust whenrequired.
• To be aware of risk relating to aggressive and challenging behaviour amongst the clientgroup andfollow trust policies relating to its management.
• To respond appropriately and professionally to emotionally distressing situationsand situations of physical health risk,and to support others involved in such situations.
• To work flexibly which may include offering some regular commitment to late clinics or Saturday working, within the overall Job Plan.
