Manufacturing Engineer
The Role
Reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, to be the key link between manufacturing engineering, design engineering and the planning department. Quality and accuracy of work are essential.
Manufacturing Engineer
Main Responsibilities
Create production routings, with timing estimates, and release processed job packs through to manufacture, including any CNC progs, cut lists and work instructions. Diligently check accuracy of shop orders, engineering drawings and BOMs
Creation of accurate sheet-metal developments, utilising current 2D & 3D CAD-CAM software, suitable for the current machine capabilities and tooling, including any DXF creation required for parts sent out to subcon.
Generate and maintain CNC laser programs, with the focus on optimal sheet utilisation & toolpath efficiency to maximise profitability.
Creation of cut lists for all sectional materials cut in house, calculating optimal requirements.
Design and process any jigs, fixtures and supports required to aid fabrication.

Maintaining Manufacturing Engineering IFS lobby messages on a daily basis
Transferring assigned parts within IFS, setting structures to "build" and setting up inventory parts
Make vs buy decision based on business capability
Generate cost estimates for quoting purposes
Handle revision changes from design engineering through to completion; scrap, rework or deplete
Analyse planned vs actual timings, understand reasons for any differences and update future routings accordingly.
Continuous improvement on manufacturing engineering processes. Help with cost analysis and justification where relevant.
Liaise with shop floor on any laser, folding or manufacturing queries or requests. Support first off laser & fold inspection when required, including any concessions.
Suggest / initiate any engineering change request and design ideas. Proactively engage in Design for Manufacture (DFM) changes.
Support planning and production teams as required. xxuwjjq
Purchase requisition creation within IFS, for no part requisition lines and any non-standard materials.
Manufacturing Engineer
The Candidate
Apprentice trained in a mechanical engineering discipline
Ability to multi-task and set priorities
Good communication skills
Strong 2D/3D solid modeling software skills
Competent using Teams, Word, Excel and Outlook
Experience working with ERP systems (IFS or similar)
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with new challenges arising every day.
