About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Maths Teacher to join a supportive and forward-thinking Mathematics department. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality mathematics lessons that challenge and inspire students, helping them develop strong problem-solving, reasoning, and analytical skills.
The role involves teaching across Key Stages, contributing to curriculum development, and supporting the wider academic progress of students. The successful candidate will also play an active role in the wider school community.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning
* Plan and deliver engaging and well-structured mathematics lessons in line with the national curriculum.
* Use a variety of teaching methods to support different learning styles and abilities.
* Encourage students to develop confidence in numeracy, logical thinking, and problem-solving.
* Differentiate learning to support students of all abilities, including those with SEN or EAL.
Curriculum and Lesson Planning
* Contribute to the development and review of the mathematics curriculum.
* Prepare schemes of work, lesson plans, and teaching resources.
* Ensure lessons align with examination board requirements where applicable.
Assessment and Student Progress
* Assess and track student progress using a range of assessment methods.
* Provide constructive feedback to help students improve their understanding and performance.
* Prepare reports and contribute to parents’ evenings and progress meetings.
Student Engagement and Support
* Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes high expectations.
* Support students in achieving their academic potential.
* Encourage participation in mathematics enrichment activities and competitions.
Department Contribution
* Work collaboratively with colleagues within the Mathematics department.
* Attend departmental meetings and professional development sessions.
* Share best practice and contribute to improving teaching and learning strategies.
Additional Responsibilities
* Attend staff meetings, INSET days, and relevant training sessions.
* Support school events such as open evenings and academic enrichment programmes.
* Carry out additional duties as directed by the Headteacher or Senior Leadership Team.

Person Specification
Experience
* Experience teaching Mathematics within a secondary school environment.
* Experience preparing students for GCSE examinations (desirable).
* Experience monitoring and tracking student progress.
Skills and Knowledge
* Strong subject knowledge in Mathematics.
* Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
* Ability to inspire and motivate students.
* Strong organisational and planning skills.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
