Placement Officer (Curriculum)

We are excited to be recruiting a committed and organised Placement Officer to join our Curriculum team at Sandwell College. This is a fantastic opportunity to support learners within the Early Years and Education department by sourcing, coordinating, and monitoring high-quality work placements that enhance their learning experience and ensure they meet awarding body requirements.

As a key link between learners, employers, curriculum teams, and parents, you will play an essential role in ensuring each placement is safe, suitable, and successful. Your work will directly impact learner progression and achievement by providing high-quality support, maintaining accurate documentation, and building strong employer relationships.

Responsibilities

1. Organise placements for full-time 16–18 and adult learners, liaising with curriculum staff, employers, parents, and external stakeholders
2. Complete Health & Safety checks on all placement providers in line with College procedures
3. Visit learners in placement, complete required documentation, and maintain accurate system records
4. Support curriculum staff with placement observations and monitoring learner progress
5. Maintain accurate attendance data and ensure compliance with awarding body requirements
6. Update the placement workbook annually to ensure it meets required standards
7. Build strong employer relationships and support employer engagement activities
8. Assist with employer events and attend sector groups to raise the profile of the programme
9. Participate in meetings, CPD training, enrolment duties, and employer boards as required

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

We’re looking for someone who is:

•Level 3 qualification or above

•Understanding of Health & Safety requirements in industry and training environments

•Experience building and maintaining professional relationships with employers

•Knowledge of safeguarding, Prevent, British Values, and Equality & Diversity

•Excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills

•High attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate records

•Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

•Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (mileage reimbursed)

•Willingness to undertake training relevant to the role
