Overview
This role is integral to managing and supervising marine projects, ensuring compliance with high standards and efficient completion of tasks.
Responsibilities
* Supervise and monitor employees' work, ensuring adherence to quality standards, safety procedures, and technical requirements in shiprepair, fabrication, mechanical fitting, and pipefitting works.
* Quote, plan, and manage shiprepair, marine, fabrication, and mechanical/pipefitting projects while controlling costs and achieving deliverables.
* Ensure staff compliance with company policies, including timekeeping, conduct, and technical training.
* Maintain high standards of housekeeping across workshops, stores, vessels, vehicles, and on-site locations.
* Support management in scheduling maintenance and repairs of company machinery, pipework systems, and shiprepair equipment.
* Work independently to plan and prioritise workload within set timescales.
* Ensure compliance with internal and external emergency arrangements and enforce the correct use of required PPE.
* Assist in tracking and controlling tools and equipment to prevent loss or theft, reporting any incidents promptly.
* Enforce safety regulations, maintain accurate records, and support procurement processes.
* Remain available for emergency or responsive shiprepair works and undertake on-call duties as needed.
* Complete written reports on project progress, quality, and completion.
* Advise management promptly of potential workforce dissatisfaction.
Job Requirements
* Experience in the shiprepair, marine, mechanical, or civil engineering industries, with knowledge of mechanical fitting and/or pipefitting works.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective liaison with staff, managers, and suppliers.
* Willingness and ability to travel for business needs, including shipyard and port facilities.
* Eligibility for UK Security Clearance
* Full UK driving licence.
* Proficient in interpreting shiprepair drawings, technical schematics, pipework diagrams, fabrication manuals, and associated specifications.
* Proven experience supervising personnel and monitoring quality and productivity in shiprepair, fabrication, mechanical, and pipefitting disciplines.
* Excellent organisational and planning skills with a strong team player ethos and the ability to motivate staff.
Terms
£32/h Umb co (PAYE also available)
40 hour standard week but due due to project demand you can expect to regularly work between 50-70 hours per week
