This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced ASIC Design Engineer (5+ years) to join a small, highly focused team in Edinburgh. The team is developing high-value silicon for what aims to be the world’s first space-based mobile broadband network.
You will be part of a collaborative engineering group working on next-generation silicon, leveraging advanced process technologies to push performance, efficiency, and capability. This is a hands‑on role where your design decisions will have a direct impact on delivering a global communications network from space.
Role Overview
As an ASIC Design Engineer, you will contribute to the design and implementation of complex silicon solutions used in space-based communication systems. The role focuses on high-quality RTL development, micro‑architecture definition, and close collaboration across multiple engineering disciplines.
You will work closely with architecture, verification, and system teams—both internal and external—to deliver robust, high‑performance ASIC and SoC designs from concept through to tape‑out.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop high-quality micro‑architecture specifications and RTL designs
* Contribute to SoC integration and subsystem development
* Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders across design flows
Required Qualifications
* 5+ years of ASIC/RTL design experience
* Strong understanding of hardware and digital design fundamentals
* Proficiency in SystemVerilog
* Experience with SoC integration
* Background in complex RTL design (e.g. high‑speed I/O, CPUs, accelerators, or NoCs)
* Ability to produce clear, high‑quality micro‑architecture documentation
* Competency in Python
Nice to Have
* Digital signal processing (DSP) experience
* Background in mobile silicon or communications systems
What’s on Offer
* Competitive base salary and RSU package
* Opportunity to work on genuinely groundbreaking technology
* A chance to be part of a fast‑moving, start‑up environment at the forefront of innovation
This role is best suited to engineers motivated by building cutting‑edge technology rather than purely financial gain. You should be comfortable working in a dynamic, start‑up setting and excited by the challenges of advanced silicon development.
Please note
You must have the right to work in the UK and be willing to work onsite in Edinburgh at least 3 days per week.
