Overview
As a Senior Planning Officer in Development Management, you will play an important role in determining the Council's planning applications and helping to meet our objectives of delivering sustainable development within Cheshire East. We are seeking a professional team player with the skills and experience to successfully manage a caseload of planning applications and provide pre-application advice. You will join a high performing Development Management team at the heart of delivering high quality sustainable development across Cheshire East, with the opportunity to work on a variety of schemes from small rural projects to urban regeneration and strategic infrastructure.
Responsibilities
Your responsibilities include:
* Manage a caseload of planning applications and negotiate improvements to development proposals through the planning application process.
* Provide pre-application advice and present to planning committee; represent the council at appeals as required.
* Collaborate with developers and stakeholders; communicate effectively to achieve sustainable development outcomes.
* Lead negotiations and demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of current local and national planning policy.
* Travel throughout Cheshire East and maintain a full UK driving licence where required.
Qualifications and Requirements
You must have:
* A degree in Planning or a related discipline, and be working towards or eligible for RTPI membership.
* Leadership skills and a customer-focused approach; excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Strong report writing and IT skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
* A track record of negotiating improvements to development proposals through the planning process.
