Role Purpose:
Ensuring that the Maritime Ranges sites and facilities are safe, fit for use and available.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Setting out and monitoring the competency/development programme to competent range technicians for all the Maritime Ranges facilities – 15 persons
2. Delivery management of the Maritime Ranges Engineering leads – 5 persons
3. Ensuring all Maritime Ranges facilities are managed in accordance with their Through Life Support Strategy (TLSS) and maintenance schedule by competent staff, and that all defects are managed to conclusion
4. Key input to the investment projects delivering into Maritime Ranges –stakeholder/Customer, and acts to influence and accept at each stage
5. Lead the replacement of equipment for obsolescence whilst innovating to deliver efficiency and enhancement
6. Input to and drive forward Maritime Ranges strategy
Key Capabilities/Knowledge:
7. Communication skills utilising a variety of methods appropriate to the audience and situation
8. Collaborative team working
9. Strong engineering and technical knowledge
10. Good understanding of health, safety, environmental and quality arrangements
11. Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulation, standards and guidance
12. Ability to effectively communicate and work collaboratively with people at all levels, both internal and external
13. Methodical and Logical approach
14. Good level of IT competence
Experience & Qualifications:
15. General engineering and operations background: Technical/engineering background is essential
16. Demonstrable track record of successful engineering management
17. Chartered Engineer (or equivalent) is desirable
18. NEBOSH / IOSH Managing safely is desirable
19. Experience of process/continuous improvement activities
