Position
Marine Water Quality Officer – 2 positions available (one permanent, one fixed‑term for 6 months).
Responsibilities
* Review reports and summarise key information for decision‑making.
* Use data to inform water quality models.
* Apply sound records‑management principles.
* Interpret monitoring data and model outputs to support environmental protection.
* Summarise and communicate technical work and raise challenges when required.
* Build strong relationships across a dispersed team and with external partners.
* Use initiative to contribute to the team’s work and wider organisational goals.
* Take on incident‑management duty as part of the role, with full training and support; may include additional payment and flexible arrangements.
Qualifications
* Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
* Knowledge of water quality and marine environment desirable.
* Working towards professional membership (preferred).
* Comfortable working in a virtual team and travelling for occasional national meetings.
* Flexible with training and development opportunities.
Experience & Skills
* Experience in data analysis with familiarity of modelling software.
* Proficiency in tools such as Excel, Access, R, Power BI, GIS, and specialist packages like Mike or Cormix.
* Strong written and verbal communication to non‑technical audiences.
* Ability to review complex reports and clearly communicate key issues.
* Experience in interpreting monitoring data and model outputs.
* Experience in building relationships across dispersed teams.
Additional Information
Working Location: EA Office base; national role with flexible/hybrid working. Training and mentoring will be provided.
