You’ll lead our procurement and supply chain function across Central Category, Pre-Contract Support, and Project Delivery, driving strategic sourcing, efficiency, and transformation. What is the job about? The Senior Procurement Manager will support and deputise for the HoP&SC, delivering departmental transformation and managing day-to-day procurement and supply chain activities. This includes: Leading and coaching the team, including line management of three workstream leads. Ensuring procurement and supply chain projects are delivered on time and to budget. Building an efficient, resilient, and sustainable supply chain that supports business objectives. Driving continual improvement initiatives and supplier performance management programmes. Providing expert procurement guidance across the full procurement lifecycle, including complex and high-risk assemblies. Supporting the development of Trainee and Graduate Procurement Officers. Success will be measured through: Efficient operation of the three procurement workstreams. Achievement of strategic sourcing objectives and risk mitigation. Development of strategic supplier relationships and improved ESG outcomes through sourcing plans. Delivery of continual improvement and supplier performance management programmes. Effective leadership, mentoring, and professional development of the team. Key Responsibilities: Balance, manage, and distribute workloads across all workstreams while planning resource needs. Maintain accurate procurement data and ensure compliance with ERP systems, ISO9001, and AQAP 2110. Lead supplier due diligence, onboarding, audits, and compliance processes. Develop and maintain strategic supplier relationships and manage contracts to ensure continuous improvement. Support operational procurement activities including bid support, order book management, and supplier negotiations. Present procurement metrics and status reports at organisational meetings. Represent the function professionally at internal and external meetings and events. Support Health & Safety, ESG, and financial compliance across all procurement activities. About you: The successful candidate will be a self-starter with excellent leadership, mentoring, and communication skills. You will have experience managing a high-performing procurement team, delivering change successfully, and supporting business transformation. Requirements Essential Skills and Experience: Proven experience at management level in procurement or supply chain leadership. Strong technical competence to support complex supplier discussions and design reviews. Effective supplier relationship and performance management skills. Category management and contract negotiation expertise. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to influence key stakeholders. Proficient in ERP systems and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint). Strong analytical, problem-solving, and quantitative skills. Desired Skills and Experience: Defence-related procurement experience. Knowledge of relevant quality, certification, and inspection standards. Experience in supplier audits and compliance. Project management, Lean/Six Sigma, or leadership qualifications. Relevant Degree or Masters in business, procurement, or related field. CIPS Level 5 or equivalent.
