What you'll be doing
Balfour Beatty Living Places has created a new and exciting opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Living Places business unit in Lincoln.
Role Purpose
An experienced Senior QS with a track record in managing all costs related to building and civil engineering projects, from initial calculations to final figures. The role involves minimizing project costs, enhancing value for money, and achieving standards and quality. Typically, candidates will be Chartered Members of the RICS, ICES, or CIOB. Experience in managing a small team of less experienced commercial staff and mentoring others towards professional qualification is essential.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Order information and systematically check data.
2. Critically appraise, estimate, and negotiate with third parties.
3. Review complex contract programmes such as Time-Location.
4. Assist with the preparation of delay and disruption programmes.
5. Monitor subcontract activities, measure, and respond appropriately.
6. Analyze commercial progress and report to senior project staff.
7. Manage commercial aspects with customers and stakeholders.
8. Prepare procurement programmes and develop strategies.
9. Analyze rates & prices, agree on variations or compensation events.
10. Prepare, submit, and negotiate claims as required.
11. Prepare internal reports, track commercial progress, and perform financial reconciliations.
12. Manage HR/People aspects for direct and indirect reports.
13. Support development of others, including mentoring.
14. Develop team plans to achieve goals and aspirations.
15. Support recruitment of lower grades.
16. Undertake constructability analyses using construction programmes.
Who we're looking for
Essential Qualifications:
* BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent experience.
* Membership of RICS, ICES, or CIOB (or working towards).
