NHS Fife is seeking a motivated and skilled Specialist Biomedical Scientist to join our dynamic and forward-thinking Cellular Pathology team. Applications are also welcomed from HCPC registered Trainee Biomedical Scientists who are working towards or willing to work towards the IBMS Specialist Portfolio in Cellular Pathology. Trainees will follow an in-house training programme while performing technical diagnostic work to complete the Specialist portfolio within 2-3 years. Trainees will be paid on band 5 and move to band 6 upon completion of the portfolio.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering a high-quality diagnostic service, contributing to the processing and analysis of histological specimens. Working within a supportive and collaborative environment, you’ll be encouraged to develop your skills and contribute to service improvements. Responsibilities include performing a wide range of specialist diagnostic techniques such as specimen dissection, embedding, microtomy, immunohistochemistry, and special stains. You will also contribute to quality assurance processes, UKAS compliance, and support training and supervision of staff and trainees. Candidates should have excellent communication and organisational skills, along with a commitment to continuous professional development and high standards of patient care.
