6 Month Contract – Inside IR35
£46.90 per hour umbrella
Hybrid working – 1 day per week on site (either Broad Oak in Portsmouth or Scotstoun Glasgow)
Job Role:
To undertake a defined range of marine engineering activities in line with all relevant processes and quality requirements, supplying advice and support to designers, operations, and other functions, ensuring objectives are achieved while maintaining quality and service standards.

* HV Distribution and Electrical Safety
* HV and High Power Protection Systems and Earthing Systems
* HV and High Power Cabling and cable routing
* High Power Electric Drives and Speed Control
Key Responsibilities:
* Participate fully in developing, maintaining, and modifying engineering processes and procedures in assigned areas in response to technical developments and operational needs.
* Carry out complex technical analyses and investigations, including evaluation and selection of technical options, and prepare reports with recommendations to support problem resolution and engineering capability improvement.
* Prepare specifications, develop designs according to specifications and standards, and carry out design appraisals to ensure compliance.
* Investigate operational problems or developments and develop solutions, individually or as part of a project team.
* Act as the main contact with customers and/or suppliers on engineering matters to resolve complex issues and maintain awareness of priorities.
* Support business development by identifying opportunities and preparing high-quality bids.
* Provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced team members.
* Manage budgets and lead, develop, and motivate team members to meet their responsibilities.
* Make engineering decisions within your responsibility and delegated authority.
Key Attributes:
* Typically degree qualified, likely in engineering or a related discipline (not essential).
* Meet requirements for registration as an Incorporated Engineer with the Engineering Council; membership of a relevant Professional Body is preferred.
* At least 5 years of engineering experience, preferably in a defence-related industry.
* Experience liaising with external stakeholders.
* Deep knowledge of current discipline areas.
* Ability to coach, mentor, and assist others.
* Strong people management skills, experienced in a multi-disciplinary environment.
* Promote engineering standards aligned with best practices.
