The Reliability Maintenance Engineering (RME) team at Amazon is essential to our operations, responsible for maintaining vital machinery to ensure continuous operation. As an RME Technician, you will maintain a variety of equipment and workspaces, adhering to Health and Safety standards. Your role will contribute to safety, reduce machine downtime, and improve equipment availability and quality.
Key job responsibilities
1. Perform proactive and preventative maintenance on site equipment
2. Conduct reactive repairs and fault diagnosis in a live distribution warehouse
3. Utilize advanced tools to maximize equipment effectiveness
4. Maintain compliance with health and safety policies
5. Support the development and progression of on-site apprentices
6. Participate in continuous improvement projects and implement best practices across EU sites
A day in the life
Based on-site, RME Technicians respond quickly to machinery issues, performing planned maintenance to ensure safety and efficiency. They respond promptly to breakdowns, investigate issues, and implement solutions, while also suggesting long-term improvements. The role involves liaising with contractors, working on various shifts to support 24/7 operations, and contributing to innovative projects like Amazon Robotics.
About the team
The RME team maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs equipment across Amazon’s fulfillment centers. Comprising skilled professionals and guided by experienced leaders, the team handles automation, site maintenance, and safety compliance. Our work aims to minimize downtime, ensuring timely delivery of customer orders. Maintenance may be scheduled during off-peak hours, including nights. We embrace innovation, developing new processes and integrating cutting-edge technology such as Amazon Robotics and the Complex Item Sorter.
Minimum qualifications
* Completed a full Engineering apprenticeship and/or qualified to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant Engineering subject
* Relevant experience as a qualified engineer
* Experience in mechanical and/or electrical maintenance
* Proficiency in the local language, both verbal and written
Preferred qualifications
* Apprentice Trained, HNC, HND, BSc, BEng
* Experience with condition-based monitoring
* Experience with print and apply machines
* Experience in fault-finding and maintaining conveyor or automation systems
