Job Summary
We are looking for a Band 6 Senior Children's Community Learning Disability Nurse to work within the Specialist Community Learning Disabilities Team based in Barrow, covering South Cumbria, Lancaster, and Morecambe. The role requires independent travel to community settings and involves working closely with adults with learning disabilities and autism.
Main Duties
* Provide clinical support to adults with learning disabilities who have complex needs, including challenging behaviour, physical and sensory impairment, mental health, and forensic issues.
* Support the clinical activity of the team in meeting the needs of local people with learning disabilities in the community.
* Undertake delegated duties by senior nurses and be accountable to operational/clinical leads.
* Provide administrative support within the integrated health team to ensure effective and timely clinical outcomes.
* Use IT clinical record systems to update patient records.
Essential Qualifications
* Part 5 or 14 of the NMC register.
* Min 2‑3 years of experience as a registered nurse or equivalent.
* Current UK professional registration.
Knowledge & Experience
* Ability to support people with learning disabilities/complex needs on an individual and group basis.
* Knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorder and experience of assessment and support for children and young people with ASD.
* Knowledge of relevant contemporary health policy.
* Experience working in a community setting, especially with children and young people with learning disabilities and/or autism.

This post requires a Disclosure and Barring Service Check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975. Applicants must be able to travel within the trust area.
