Job Overview
NHS Lothian is seeking a highly skilled Consultant Urologist with expertise in Genito-Urinary Pelvic Oncology and Prostate Cancer Surgery. The successful candidate will provide high-quality urology services, including robotically assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP), and contribute to general urology and diagnostic activities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Perform RARP independently, with mentorship available for early-career consultants.
2. Contribute to the Scotland-wide collection of Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs).
3. Participate in ongoing research projects, including multi-centre RCTs.
4. Assist in developing focal therapy and minimally invasive (robotic) cystectomy services.
5. Work across multiple sites within the Lothian and Borders network, primarily based at Western General Hospital.
Qualifications and Requirements
1. Full GMC Registration with a license to practice.
2. Eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register.
3. UK-trained candidates should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry.
4. Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.
Employment Details
* Permanent, full-time (40 hours/week).
* Based at Western General Hospital, with work across other network sites.
* Interview date: 5 June 2025.
