The Role: Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, the Director of Public Health will be at the forefront of our ambitious plans to enhance the quality of life for the people of North Tyneside. You will lead a dedicated team of public health professionals, collaborate with key stakeholders, and develop innovative strategies to tackle public health challenges. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Director of Public Health will: Lead with Vision: The ability to empower, motivate and develop colleagues whilst continuing to develop our positive and inclusive organisational culture. Legislative practice: Analyse data and conduct research to develop and implement forward-thinking public health policies, procedures and programs. Statutory reporting: Responsible for the creation of the independent annual report, making evidence-based and innovative recommendations to improve health and reduce inequalities across the borough. Collaborate and Advocate: Establish and sustain positive relationships that generate confidence; collaborative working with a wide range of diverse stakeholders and advocate for improvements to promote and protect the health of residents in North Tyneside. Proactively source funding: Advocate for public health funding and resources to drive our initiatives whilst being good value for money. What We're Looking For: Educational Background: Inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register/ GDC Specialist List/ UK Voluntary Register for Public Health Specialists, CPD requirements in accordance with Faculty of Public Health Appropriate postgraduate or professional qualification. Experience :Minimum of 3 years’ experience of public health practice at a senior level. Strong track Record: Demonstrates evidence of change management experience, delivering new working practices, cultural and structural change and an understanding of the modernising local government agenda and changes in public sector policy development. Expertise: Deep understanding of public health principles, practices, and regulations. Values: Put our values into practice daily: we listen, we care, we are ambitious, we are good value for money. Skills: Exceptional communication, leadership, and strategic thinking abilities. Relationships: The ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including the Elected Mayor, Members, senior management colleagues and other partners.
