Job Opportunity: Trainee Assistant Practitioner in Stroke Rehabilitation
Join our Integrated Stroke Rehabilitation Therapy Service as a full-time Trainee Assistant Practitioner. This role offers the chance to complete a Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care (Assistant Practitioner) through an apprenticeship over two years. Upon successful completion, you will progress to a band 4 position.
Candidate Profile: We seek a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual, preferably with prior experience in a rehabilitation setting, NVQ level 3 in health and social care or equivalent, and proficiency in IT systems.
Workplace and Responsibilities: You will support Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, and Speech and Language Therapists across the stroke therapies pathway, working on the acute stroke unit at Blackburn Hospital, inpatient stroke rehab, and the community stroke team at Pendle Community Hospital. Access to a vehicle is essential for patient visits.
Role and Tasks: Assist in delivering specialist rehabilitation, support assessments, implement treatment plans, and recommend equipment and minor adaptations. You will use technical skills in therapeutic activities, evaluate and modify treatment programs, and manage your caseload within a broad framework, working independently with guidance from qualified therapists.
Work Environment: The work occurs in inpatient units, care homes, and patients' homes. You may work as a lone worker in the community, following relevant policies.
Location and Team: Based at Pendle Community Hospital or Royal Blackburn Hospital, with a community team visiting various clinical settings. Our team is involved in research projects and has strong links with neurorehabilitation experts.
Development and Support: We offer supervision, annual appraisals, in-house training, and mentorship throughout the 2-year program to support your clinical development.
