Contract Senior Civil Engineer - Manchester\n OUTSIDE IR35\n\nI'm recruiting on behalf of a respected and independent civil and structural engineering consultancy based in Manchester. With a consistently strong workload and several live development-led infrastructure schemes, they're now looking for an experienced Contract Civil or Senior Civil Engineer to support their busy civils team on a flexible, outside IR35 basis. \nThis is a great opportunity to join a technically accomplished, collaborative team delivering a wide range of drainage and highways design work.
The contract offers immediate project involvement, minimal onboarding time, and the autonomy to take ownership of your workload with the backing of a trusted leadership team.\n\nThe Role:\n\nDesigning highways and drainage infrastructure for residential and commercial development schemes\nLeading or supporting technical approval processes including S104, S38, and S278\nPreparing detailed design drawings and calculations for planning, tender, and construction phases\nWorking collaboratively with clients, architects, and other consultants to resolve design challenges\nSupporting and mentoring junior staff as required\nDelivering schemes from concept through to construction with minimal supervision\nWhat You'll Need:\n\nStrong working knowledge of SUDs, MicroDrainage (or InfoDrainage), AutoCAD, and ideally Civil 3D\nA solid understanding of infrastructure planning and delivery processes\nPrevious experience working on residential-led developments is preferred\nHNC/HND or degree in Civil Engineering or similar\nExcellent communication skills and a proactive, delivery-focused mindset\nContract Details:\n\nOutside IR35\nFlexible hybrid working (Manchester office-based when required)\nCompetitive hourly/daily rate\nImmediate start available\nIf you're a contract Civil Engineer looking for your next outside IR35 role and want to work with a down-to-earth, technically capable team, let's have a chat.
