Job Summary
Opportunity to join the Adult Therapies Physiotherapy Department at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust. The department is responsible for the assessment and management of outpatients with musculoskeletal conditions. As a Receptionist / Clerical Officer you will serve as the first point of contact for patients accessing our services, supporting a small yet dynamic team that values learning, support, and a patient‑centred approach.
Key Duties
* Act as the initial contact for patients, managing telephone and face‑to‑face interactions.
* Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, and staff.
* Support the team in daily administrative tasks and patient administration.
* Maintain patient confidentiality and handle sensitive information responsibly.
* Assist in the smooth operation of the outpatient department.

Job Responsibilities
* Previous experience as the initial contact for patients.
* Effective communication via telephone and in person.
* Willingness to learn and develop professionally.
* IT literacy.
* Experience with Careflow or a similar patient administration system (desirable).
Person Specification
Desirable:
* Previous reception experience in healthcare or a public setting.
* Experience working within the NHS.
* Clerical or administrative experience, including filing and reception.
Essential Qualifications:
* GCSE, grade C or above (or equivalent) in English Language and Maths.
Essential Skills & Abilities:
* Professional telephone and reception manner.
* Flexible approach to duties.
* Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain high accuracy.
* Strong organisational and IT skills—including Microsoft Office.
* Confidence in handling difficult conversations with patients, relatives, and carers.
* Attention to detail.
* Effective team player able to work independently.
