As we continue to expand, we are excited to open a position for a Plant Manager to join our team!
The Plant Manager will oversee daily plant operations, maintenance, and team leadership by leading by example and maintaining a visible presence on the plant floor, while ensuring all administrative duties are completed efficiently.
You will manage a diverse and talented operations team, with primary responsibilities including organizing staff to ensure efficiency and workflow, as well as directing, training, assisting, and disciplining operational employees as needed in a fast-paced environment.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Managing onsite Maintenance staff, Team Leaders, and Floor staff, providing ongoing support and direction.
2. Managing floor stock, contingency supplies, raising orders, and maintaining stock levels.
3. Providing updates on issues and metrics to Team Leaders for shift huddles.
4. Compiling and reporting daily plant metrics, identifying issues, and proposing solutions.
5. Monitoring incoming waste volumes to ensure compliance with permits and capacity limits.
6. Completing all H&S reporting, including accident management, job observations, and near misses.
7. Monitoring equipment using MaintainX, ensuring checks are completed, faults reported, and statutory inspections arranged and completed.
8. Ensuring Waste Acceptance Monitoring checks for incoming waste compliance and accuracy, handling Non-Conformances and escalations.
9. Spot-checking all functions within your remit to ensure requirements are met.
10. Ensuring compliance with environmental permits.
11. Completing the Plant Site Diary daily.
12. Maintaining high standards of housekeeping at all times.
13. Organizing external training for operational staff.
14. Controlling costs in line with the budget and participating in routine review calls.
15. Promoting and managing Sharpsmart culture throughout the plant.
16. Completing shift and weekend handovers as required.
What we are looking for:
1. At least 3 years of plant or warehouse leadership experience, or relatable experience.
2. A proven track record in hands-on leadership skills.
3. Strong background in managing heavy machinery and maintenance awareness.
4. Experience in process and procedure improvements.
5. Ability to motivate and work well with others.
6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with disciplined record-keeping.
7. WAMITAB & H&S qualifications are advantageous; both must be attained if not already held.
8. A 45-hour workweek with flexibility required.
