Consultant Histopathologist (Breast Pathology)

We are seeking to appoint a committed Consultant Breast Histopathologist to join our experienced and highly motivated team at the Wythenshawe site (and potentially across other sites as our service develops). The role involves delivering subspecialised histopathology services and participating in multidisciplinary team meetings and teaching activities.
Main duties of the job
You will join a team of 18 other substantive Consultants in the Histopathology Department at Wythenshawe (and 22 Consultants at the ORC site). The main responsibilities of this post include:
* Providing subspecialised histopathology for clinical users, including review of patient slides referred for further investigation or treatment from external hospitals.
* Participating in cancer multidisciplinary team meetings (MDTs) in line with your areas of subspecialisation, which may require travel to other sites.
* Engaging in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training, and teaching allied health professionals. Additional teaching responsibilities may be allocated in the job plan.
Person Specification
Qualifications and Training
* MB ChB or Equivalent
* Full and Specialist Registration
* FRCPath or Equivalent
* Full and specialist registration with the GMC (or be eligible for registration within six months of interview)
* MD, PhD or other higher degree
Teaching and Audit
* Experience of audit in cellular pathology
* Teaching of junior medical staff and medical students
* Trained Clinical Supervisor and Educational Supervisor
* Experience of supervising ST1 level trainees, including workplace‑based assessment and MSF
Academic Achievements and Research
* Publications in recognised pathological and clinical journals
* Specialist interest in areas of cellular pathology complementary to other consultants in the department
* Research projects relating to the specialist area
Interpersonal / Professional Skills
* Organisational skills
* Involvement in service development and/or quality improvement processes
£109,725 to £145,478 per annum (pro rata)
