Job Overview
Breast Care Nurse – Band 7 (fixed term 12 months, full time, 37.5 h per week). Salary £54,320 – £60,981 per annum (NHS AfC Band 7).
Location: Royal Free Hospital, Pond Street, London, UK (Postcode NW3 2QG). The role supports the breast disease pathway, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams in acute, primary and tertiary settings.
Responsibilities
* Provide high‑quality specialist nursing care to patients with breast disease throughout their care journey.
* Work autonomously, using expert clinical judgement and evidence‑based practice to deliver informational, psychological and clinical support.
* Act as a nursing resource and clinical leader within the breast multidisciplinary team.
* Maintain thorough documentation and use the Holistic Needs Assessment at appropriate points in the pathway.
* Communicate with patients, families, carers and health professionals, offering education, counselling and advocacy.
* Coordinate with acute oncology nurses, radiology, chemotherapy, plastic and ward teams to ensure continuity of care.
* Support staff development through formal and informal education, mentoring and facilitation of change management.
* Lead quality improvement projects, audit and research activities.
Qualifications / Education
* BSc or 1st‑class degree in a health‑related discipline, or equivalent.
* Post‑registration qualification in a relevant specialty or equivalent post‑qualification experience.
* Current Breast Care qualification and current statutory registration.
* Ongoing development towards a master’s level (mentorship course or similar).

* Demonstrable ability to meet Trust values and deliver world‑class care.
* Extensive experience delivering autonomous, patient‑focused care in a specialist setting.
* Management and leadership skills, including supervision of students.
* Evidence of audit, research and evidence‑based practice; experience of change management.
* Advanced clinical, managerial and leadership skills in breast speciality.
* Excellent listening, counselling, teaching and communication skills.
* Strong organisational, time‑management and IT proficiency.
* Knowledge of national guidance (NICE, NSC) and quality standards.
