Data and Attendance Officer

Permanent, Full Time – 37 hours per week, Term Time Only working 39 weeks per year initially. Salary: Grade 5 (SCP 7 – 9) £26,403 to £27,254 per annum pro rata. Actual Salary: £22,811 - £23,547 per annum.

John Taylor MAT is looking for an experienced, flexible and adaptable professional to join its newest, and only ‘all-through’ school in our Trust family. Built from the ground up, Rugeley John Taylor will serve local communities, offering a ‘gold standard’ learning experience to the youngest learners all the way through to sixth formers.

We have an opportunity to join this brand-new school, working with Year 7 and Year 8 in the secondary phase, as well as a cohort of Nursery and Primary school aged children. You will ensure the accurate recording and maintenance of all student data, including mark sheets and assessment data, produce reports and liaise with senior colleagues in the production of the school timetable. As this role combines both Secondary School and Primary School data and attendance record responsibilities, having an ability to prioritise, organise work and co‐ordinate processes is essential. Supporting staff members, students and their families, you will contribute to the development and implementation of a range of actions and provisions. This will include preparing and collating data to present to staff in school to assist with assessment analysis, as well as co‑ordinating data to promote high levels of attendance. This role will also involve co‑ordinating and liaising with external agencies in relation to supporting students and families with improving their attendance in school, visiting families when required. Where appropriate liaison with external services may include social services, education, psychologists, medical and counselling services.

Key Responsibilities

* Ensure accurate recording and maintenance of all student data, including mark sheets and assessment data.
* Produce reports and liaise with senior colleagues in the production of the school timetable.
* Coordinate data and attendance record responsibilities across Secondary and Primary schools.
* Prepare and collate data for staff presentations to assist with assessment analysis.
* Promote high levels of attendance through data coordination.
* Liaise with external agencies (social services, education, psychologists, medical and counselling services) to support students and families.
* Visit families when required as part of attendance improvement strategies.

Qualifications & Skills

* Experience in a similar role with confidence in manipulating data in MS Excel and the ability to process, understand and interpret data.
* Ability to coordinate work processes and bring together information from various sources.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Planning and organisational skills with an understanding of prioritisation and the flexibility to meet demands.
* Understanding of the barriers to attendance in school and how this role can respond to those.
* Understanding of the school’s legal duties as outlined in the Department for Education (DfE) statutory guidance (Working together to improve attendance in school).
* A willingness to go the extra mile as the school and staff team evolves.
