West Herts College Group is seeking a Group Youth Engagement and Diversion Officer to play a vital role in shaping the student experience.
As Group Youth Engagement and Diversion Officer, you will work closely with our 16–18-year-old students to ensure they feel safe, supported, and engaged throughout their time at college. You’ll be a key figure in promoting positive behaviour, building trust, and helping students—especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds—stay on track and believe in their potential.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the Group Head of Youth Engagement and Diversion in upholding behaviour expectations.
* Build strong, trusting relationships with students to encourage open dialogue.
* Inspire and motivate young people to remain engaged in education and develop resilience.
* Assist in managing and de‑escalating student incidents.
* Liaise with external agencies including the police and local authorities.
* Provide advice, guidance, and support to students on a range of issues.
* Monitor and support vulnerable students at risk of disengagement.
* Contribute to safeguarding efforts in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education.
