Data Analyst

Sitting within the Strategy, Change and Resident Engagement Directorate, the newly formed Transformation Team acts as an internal change consultancy. Bringing together colleagues with cross-functional skills, knowledge and experience, the Transformation Team’s purpose is to help the Council in making evidence-based decisions and realise a transformative new way of working and operating models. To achieve this, we intend to apply systems thinking principles and practices to improve the way the Council operates, using better insight to deliver operating models that facilitate more effective services for the residents of Slough and reduces costs.
The Transformation Team’s Data Analysts will play pivotal roles for the Council to be high-performing and resident focused. You help support the team’s Programme Director and Programme Manager and project teams, leading on the practical delivery of the Council’s new operating model through its cross-functional service review, redesign, and rollout workstreams. You will ensure that this work leads to impactful results, sustained delivery and an operating model that is fit for purpose. Highly experienced in analytical and financially focused data analysis, these roles will require a relentless emphasis on driving the Transformation Team and the organisation to achieve continuous improvement leading to transformation in ways of working.
Collaborating with cross-functional corporate and service directorate teams to support engagement and project delivery
Applying analytical skills to deliver objective, impactful, and actionable insights for the benefit of Slough services and residents
Preparing dashboards, presentations, and reports to effectively communicate insights
Providing subject matter expertise coaching and support to non-technical colleagues
Sharing responsibility for the development of data analytics within the Council
Experience in an analytical role in local government and/or public services with knowledge of data systems and processes and familiarity with local government datasets
Experience with or the ability and willingness to learn programming languages such as R/Python, querying languages such as SQL, standard BI tools such as Power BI and Tableau, and cloud services such as Microsoft Fabric

Understanding of financial accounting and flow accounting / cost-to-serve models is desirable
Familiar with information governance and data security policies, procedures, and standards
Expert user of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Ability to effectively communicate ideas, findings and complex technical concepts to specialist and non-specialist audiences
Ability to work simultaneously on numerous projects with varying scopes
Willing to work with a cross-functional and highly collaborative team
