Principal EC&I Engineer - Warrington Location: Warrington, UK Security Clearance: UK Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) Contract Type: Inside IR35 Duration: 12 months extension Rate: £61.00 - £80.00 per hour (Umbrella) About the Role We're seeking a highly experienced Principal EC&I Engineer to provide technical leadership and strategic direction on key engineering projects in Warrington. You'll be responsible for leading multidisciplinary teams, driving high engineering standards, and ensuring timely delivery of solutions aligned with customer and project requirements. As a subject matter expert, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping technical strategy, mentoring engineers, and promoting a culture of excellence in safety, quality, and innovation. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver high-quality technical outputs. Provide supervision, mentoring, and professional development to engineers and technical specialists. Ensure delivery of engineering solutions that meet customer scope, cost, and schedule requirements. Produce, review, verify, and approve complex technical deliverables including calculations, analyses, reports, and specifications. Oversee application of relevant procedures, codes, and standards to all engineering activities. Maintain strong client relationships, supporting business development and project success. Drive health, safety, and environmental excellence across all project activities. Manage resources effectively, ensuring capability development and knowledge sharing across teams. Support technical and project audits, ensuring continuous learning and improvement. Contribute to tender reviews and business-winning activities. About You You're an accomplished EC&I professional with a deep understanding of engineering processes, technical governance, and leadership in complex project environments. You thrive on solving challenging problems, mentoring others, and delivering excellence across all aspects of engineering. Essential Qualifications & Experience Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline. Chartered Engineer (CEng) status. Demonstrable experience managing technical teams across a range of projects. Strong understanding of multidisciplinary project delivery from concept to completion. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Desirable Membership in a relevant professional institution. Experience managing EC&I scope for projects across commercial or defence sectors. Proven experience with full EPC (Engineering, Procurement & Construction) project lifecycles.
