ICT Systems Administrator – Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ICT Systems Administrator to join our ICT Department. This role plays a key part in managing and supporting cloud and on‑premisesystems that are critical to service delivery across a multi‑site organisation. You’ll work closely with colleagues, partners and suppliers to ensure systems are secure, reliable and continually improving. The ideal candidate is an experienced and motivated ICT professional with strong technical knowledge, a customer‑focused mindset and a passion for modern technologies and automation. Key Responsibilities
* Manage, monitor and maintain cloud and on‑premise software, systems and infrastructure.
* Ensure the stability, availability, performance and security of ICT systems in line with best practice.
* Carry out system maintenance, upgrades, patching, backups and configuration reviews.
* Diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve incidents, problems and outages to minimise disruption.
* Work collaboratively with the ICT Service Desk, internal teams, external partners and suppliers.
* Support the rollout, testing and evaluation of new technologies and systems.
* Implement and maintain security best practices in collaboration with the ICT Security Manager.
* Maintain accurate technical documentation, including configurations, assets, incidents and changes.
* Administer user accounts, access rights and support onboarding and offboarding processes.
* Contribute to IT service management processes, service improvement initiatives and ITIL-based ways of working.
* Support service continuity, including disaster recovery planning and testing.
Experience/Qualification
* Proven experience managing cloud and on‑premise software, systems and infrastructure.
* Experience of automating processes and improving system reliability and efficiency.
* Strong knowledge of cloud and hybrid environments and modern device management.
* Experience working with IT Service Management tools and ITIL-based processes.
* Demonstrable experience of incident, problem, change, asset and configuration management.
* Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
* Ability to produce clear technical documentation and communicate effectively with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
* Educated to degree level in ICT, Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
* ITIL Foundation (or equivalent knowledge) with a commitment to continued professional development.
* A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between sites as required (reasonable adjustments will be made for candidates with a disability).
