Are you a qualified Band 5 Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) looking to make a real difference in people's lives? We are looking for enthusiastic and compassionate PWPs to join our friendly and innovative Talking Therapies service based at our head office in Bracknell.

As a PWP, you will play a key role in improving access to evidence-based interventions for people experiencing mild to moderate anxiety and depression. Working within primary care and community settings, you will support service users to build resilience, improve wellbeing, and achieve meaningful recovery.

You will work with people from diverse cultural backgrounds and collaborate closely with professionals across health, social care and community services, demonstrating a strong commitment to equality and inclusion.

We offer a Monday - Friday working pattern, with hybrid options for a mix of working from home and in the office. There is an expectation to work one late per week 12-8pm (but no lates on Fridays).


Main duties of the job

* Providing high volume low intensity interventions using cognitive behavioural therapy for mild to moderate anxiety and depression
* Opportunities to support those with long term health conditions and those with employment issues alongside our fantastic employment support team

* Opportunities to support new staff members and provide supervision; every year we are lucky to be able to offer supervisor training to qualified PWPs alongside Reading University

Job responsibilities

* Post graduate certificate in evidence based psychological treatments (IAPT pathways)
* Registered with BACP for PWP Accreditation
* Evidenced experience of supporting Long Term Conditions (LTC)
* Willing to work one 12-8pm shift per week (the rest either 8-4pm or 9-5pm, no late shifts on Fridays)
* We also welcome those who can offer therapy in other languages, although not essential for this role

Person Specification


Education/Qualifications/Training

* Successful completion of a BPS-accredited PWP training programme
* Registration as a PWP on the British Psychological Society (BPS) Wider Psychological Workforce Register OR PWP registration with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP)
* Relevant bachelor's degree (e.g., psychology, mental health, sociology, education etc.) graded at 2:2 or above


Continuous Professional Development/ Training

* Commitment to ongoing professional development and training
* Evidence of continuous professional development in the delivery of evidence-based psychological interventions of relevance to the post


Previous Experience

* Experience of working as a Trainee/ qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner
* Significant experience of working with people experiencing mental health problems within community settings
* Experience of working in or with a diverse or multi-cultural community
* Experience of working in Primary Care Services
* Worked in a service where agreed targets are in place and demonstrating clinical outcomes
* Experience of working and liaising with a wide variety of agencies and stakeholders
* Experience of being supervised and utilising the supervision in clinical practise


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

* Knowledge and understanding of common mental health problems, including anxiety and depression, and how they may present
* Knowledge of evidence based low intensity interventions for service users with common mental health disorders
* Understands the concept of stepped care and how it relates to the care of people experiencing common mental health problems
* Knowledge of and ability to use Routine Outcome Measures to help evaluate progress of care plans
* Understands importance of collecting feedback from service users and other key stakeholders, and using this to contribute to quality improvement
* Ability to undertake comprehensive risk assessments, drawing on complex and multiple sources of information, within scope of practice
* Knowledge of safeguarding issues and a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of service users
* Ability to manage a sensitive and potentially emotionally distressing caseload
* Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build, develop and manage therapeutic and professional relationships with a range of people
* Able to assist in assessment and observation activities related to individuals' health and wellbeing, arriving at relevant care plans
* Able to analyse and synthesize multiple sources of information to contribute to the team's understanding and formulation of service users' difficulties and the development of multi-disciplinary care plans
* Able to plan and deliver psychologically informed interventions to meet individual health and wellbeing needs
* High standard of letter and report writing
* Excellent IT skills including ability to use Microsoft Office programmes and understanding of online clinical tools and programmes
* Knowledge of medication used in anxiety and depression and other common mental health problems


Additional requirements

* Regard for others and respect for individual rights of autonomy and patient confidentiality
* Able to work flexibly as required (within and outside of office hours)
* Ability to travel independently across locations in Berkshire and beyond to fulfil the requirements and duties of the position
* Fluent in a language other than English - please state all languages you could work in
* Able to work with interpreters to deliver services
