Location: Mile End School
Duration: Permanent, Full Time

Roles that require PVG Membership

Please note that with effect from 1 April 2023, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above. (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 11 and above (currently £30,285 per annum / £16.64 per hour)

The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee’s first FULL month’s salary payment.

Job purpose/about the role

To be the registered manager of a designated Out of School Care setting.

To manage, plan and deliver effective Out of School Care provision to meet the individual needs of children and their families.

To provide professional support and line management to a team of staff in order to enable them to deliver high quality learning and childcare.


Requirements

BA or PDA in Childhood Practice

SVQ Level 4 in Playwork or SSCYP with a willingness to undertake BA/PDA in Childhood Practice to meet registered manager requirements.

Registration with Scottish Social Services Council

PVG – working with Children


Responsibilities

* Delivering a high quality Out of School Care service
* Experience of working directly with school aged children.
* Effective management and supervision skills
* Managing and facilitating change
* Managing and maximising resources
* Effective written and verbal communication
* Using a variety of ICT packages including email, internet and Microsoft applications (word and excel)
