Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a globally recognised, multi-disciplinary consultancy in their search for an Associate / Associate Director – Environmental Consultant to join their established Environment team in London.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced environmental professional to step into a leadership role within one of the UK’s most respected consultancies. You’ll take a key role in the delivery of major infrastructure and development projects, providing strategic input at senior level and supporting the continued growth and direction of a highly skilled and collaborative team.
The Role
As an Associate / Associate Director – Environmental Consultant, you’ll manage and deliver complex environmental and sustainability projects across multiple sectors including infrastructure, energy, transport, and regeneration. Working closely with planners, engineers and technical specialists, you’ll help shape practical, sustainable solutions that balance client objectives with environmental priorities.
Key responsibilities include:
 1. Leading multidisciplinary project teams to deliver Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and associated technical studies.
 2. Providing expert environmental and sustainability advice to clients and internal teams.
 3. Managing project budgets, programmes, and quality assurance across concurrent projects.
 4. Developing and maintaining strong client relationships, identifying new opportunities and supporting business growth.
 5. Coordinating the integration of environmental and sustainability considerations across the project lifecycle.
 6. Mentoring and developing junior colleagues, fostering an inclusive and supportive team culture.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
 7. A degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Planning, or a related discipline.
 8. Chartered status with a relevant professional body (IEMA, CEnv, or equivalent).
 9. A minimum of 10 years’ experience within environmental consultancy or a related field.
 10. Proven experience managing and delivering large-scale EIA projects.
 11. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with confidence in client-facing situations.
 12. Strong commercial awareness and project management capability.
 13. Leadership qualities, with the ability to inspire and guide multidisciplinary teams.
