Our Values: We Lead The Way | We Dream Big | We Get it Done | We Innovate | We Inspire our Community Role Purpose: The role of the Grounds Person is to work as part of the Grounds Team to develop and maintain world-class training pitches at our industry-leading training centre. The ideal candidate will have a track record of contributing to the delivery of outstanding playing surfaces at an elite level. They will have experience of working within an in-house team of ground staff, as well as the ability to work alongside seasonal/ matchday contracting staff at the Club. We would expect this person to have a good knowledge of pitch maintenance and have experience of presenting professional training ground pitches. They will have very strong communication skills which enable the delivery of world-class training ground pitches. Strong attention to detail, excellent planning and being able to work within a team will be important in this role. Main Duties/ Responsibilities 1. Pitch Maintenance · Undertaking general maintenance operations associated with pitch management · Divoting and repairing of training ground pitches after games and any training sessions. · Undertaking general routine maintenance operations including: 1. Use of tractors and other various tractor implements 2. Use of pedestrian/hand-held machinery 3. Setting up, preparing and maintaining of the pitch to a high standard 4. Setting and marking out of pitches and technical areas 5. Applying various fertilisers using a tractor mounted spreader or pedestrian spreader. 6. Irrigation management 2. Reporting · Track pitch usage and upkeep as well as pitch testing, moisture readings, firmness, cut height and other specifics for preparing weekly reports for Head/ Deputy Head Grounds Person and communication for weekly schedules. 3. Grounds Maintenance · Keep the surrounding grounds properly cared for and landscaped · Ensure facilities and practices meet health and safety requirements and that they comply with legislation · 4. Other ad-hoc duties as assigned from time-to-time by management Club Accountabilities: 1. What we are looking for Qualifications and Training Essential · NVQ L2 in Sports Turf Management or Level 2 GMA Technical Certificate in Turf Surface Maintenance, or equivalent · Safeguarding (will be provided) Desirable · Additional greenkeeping or groundskeeping qualification or certifications Knowledge, Skills and Experience Essential · Previous practical experience working as part of a Grounds team in an elite sports training environment · Ability to work with minimal supervision · Ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines · Ability to communicate effectively with others, including those outside of the Grounds team · Pro-active approach and ability to troubleshoot independently Desirable · Experience of working within women’s football Characteristics · Passionate about women’s football and broader women’s sport culture. · Entrepreneurial spirit and ability to deal with matrix stakeholders & ambiguity. · High standards of personal integrity and EQ. · Comfortable and able to work on own initiative · Has a learning mindset; is keen to continue their self-development and keep up to date with best practice and learning opportunities · Continually seeks to improve efficiency and performance · Seeks out and embraces new ways of thinking and working – not afraid to fail.
