About the Client and Support Needed:
I am a 24-year-old female with complex health needs who currently lives at home with my mum and is fully supported by my close family members. I have a great sense of humour with an infectious laugh, respond well to structure and routine, and like to plan my day ahead. I also understand some simple verbal communication/Makaton and can communicate through gestures.
I am fully mobile; however, due to some sensory difficulties, I may present with challenging behaviours, requiring my PA’s to always supervise me to ensure I am safe. I like going for daily walks or a nice drive, enjoy singing along to musicals, and watching YouTube on my iPad. Sometimes, I like my own space, which is really important to me, and I will let you know when I need it. I like my PAs to be open, friendly, and caring with a genuine nature.
The overall purpose of the support package is to offer a person-centred approach to ensure our client achieves a fulfilled, happy, safe, and sociable life. Support will include a wide range of personal care needs, both at home and in the community.
You will give reassurance and make her feel safe by ensuring she has a structured routine and by patiently supporting her during meals and daily activities. You will support her to communicate effectively by training in Makaton (training provided) and giving her time to process information.
Despite the role sometimes being demanding physically and emotionally, it is also a very fulfilling and rewarding role.
