POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Senior Manager & Professional Practice Leader (PPL), Pharmacy Services, the Clinical Pharmacy Manager, Charlton, provides leadership, management, and organization of pharmacy clinical and quality activities at the Charlton Campus, in accordance with SJHH Pharmacy Services and organizational initiatives.
RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES:
* Working closely with the Pharmacy Management team, plans and manages safe, effective, and progressive clinical pharmacy services at the Charlton campus and supports medication system-related quality, customer service, and process improvements, according to regulatory, safety, and best practice requirements.
* Assumes all human resources management responsibilities for any direct reports. Coordinates work assignments, scheduling, performance evaluation, determines training needs and oversees related training/orientation for Charlton Pharmacists and Pharmacotherapy Specialists. Oversees pharmacist student learners at the Charlton campus.
* Clearly delineates roles, responsibilities, and accountabilities of direct reports.
* Reviews employee concerns related to attendance, performance, or behaviour. Collaborates with Human Resources team for appropriate follow-up as necessary.
* Recruits staff to maintain approved staffing complement.
* Provides feedback to other pharmacy managers related to their direct reports’ performance on tasks associated with the Clinical Manager portfolio.
* Works as part of the Pharmacy Management team in strategic planning, quality improvement, budgeting, and decision making.
* Contributes to annual operating and capital budget proposals; assists with preparation and monitoring of the annual pharmacy service operating budget, ensuring that resources are deployed efficiently and effectively.
* In collaboration with the Senior Manager & PPL, Pharmacy Services, acts as the official voice in the organization for clinical pharmacy.
* Collaborates with the Director, Pharmacy Services and Senior Manager & PPL, Pharmacy Services to evaluate, plan and implement clinical and medication-system related safety, quality, and process improvements, programs and services within the pharmacy department.
* Facilitates and oversees the planning, use, ongoing maintenance and policy/procedure development related to clinical pharmacy services and the medication management system.
* Oversees clinical pharmacy activities related to drug utilization, formulary management, and non-formulary drug request approvals.
* Develops and strategizes ways to ensure effective implementation and change management for any new initiatives or changes.
* Represents pharmacy services leadership team by participating in committees and medication-related working groups.
* Collaborates with other clinical leaders at the Charlton campus to ensure safe and effective delivery of pharmacy services.
* Cross covers other managers as required.
* Other duties as delegated or assigned by the Senior Manager & PPL, or Director, Pharmacy Services.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or entry level PharmD required.
* Masters Degree in Pharmacy/PharmD/MBA/MHA/MHM/Health Informatics preferred.
* Hospital Pharmacy Residency preferred.
* Registration in good standing as a Part A Pharmacist with the Ontario College of Pharmacists required.
* Minimum of 5 years recent related practice as a hospital Pharmacist.
* Experience in an academic health sciences centre preferred.
* Demonstrated leadership experience including change management, project management, medication safety and process/quality improvement.
* Demonstrated supervisory, team building, coaching, collaboration, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills.
* Evidence of effective organizational, analytical, problem-solving, change management and project management experience and skills.
* Takes personal responsibility for delivering service, quality, and safety. Demonstrated emotional self-awareness, assertiveness, optimism, stress tolerance and empathy in a variety of situations.
* Demonstrated application of an evidence-based, scholarly, and creative approach to problem-solving and decision making.

* Ability to manage a large and diversified workload with often rapidly changing priorities, challenging deadlines and ability to adapt to progressive change.
* Demonstrated flexibility to work effectively with other Pharmacy Managers in rapidly changing and complex environment where roles may overlap, requiring the ability to prioritize and share responsibilities to meet departmental needs.
* Demonstrated ability to contribute to organizational and departmental accreditation activities.
HOURS OF WORK:
Monday - Friday days, but some evening/weekend work may be required; Provides on-call manager coverage for the pharmacy department on a rotational basis
LOCATION:Sites: Primarily Charlton Campus but work at all sites may be required.
