ML Photonics is a growing technology company specialising in advanced photonic components and systems. As we continue to expand, we are seeking an experienced Quality & Compliance Manager to lead our Quality Management System and Health & Safety framework, ensuring full compliance with ISO 9001 and statutory requirements.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys building robust systems, working closely with production teams, suppliers and customers, and driving a strong culture of quality and safety across the organisation.
The Role
As part of the senior management team reporting to the General Manager, you will be responsible for creating, maintaining, and continually improving the company's Quality and Health & Safety Management Systems.
You will play a critical role in ensuring certification compliance, supporting inspections, and embedding best practice across the business.
You will take joint responsibility for promoting the company capabilities and building relationships with external interested parties.
This is a local role but could involve domestic and overseas travel.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Management
Continually improve the Quality Management System in line with ISO 9001:2015 and maintain accreditation
Ensure that the quality management system is fully compliant with the requirements of ISO 9001:2026 and prepare for transition
Support supplier management
Represent the Customers interests in ML Photonic and work closely with customers to achieve mutual satisfaction
Ensure production inspection reports and documentation meet customer and industry standards
Resource and oversee all inspection activities including first-off, in-line, final, and visual inspections, with special attention to surface quality checks and coating inspections are correctly implemented
Support the completion and closure of NCRs from internal and external sources
Ensure calibration and control of all inspection and process measurement equipment
Accurately interpret and communicate technical and quality-related information
Health & Safety & Compliance
Maintain the Health & Safety Management System aligned ISO 45001:2018
Ensure the requirements of all interested parties are considered and managed.
Oversee an environmental management process in line with principles of ISO 14001:2015
Ensure full compliance with statutory Health & Safety requirements
Working closely with on-site H&S professionals promote site-wide H&S awareness, communication, and continuous improvement
Identify and communicate non-conformities to the Site Manager and senior leadership
Drive H&S audits and ensure corrective actions are completed using effective root cause analysis
Champion a zero-harm culture for employees, visitors, and interested parties
About You
Proven experience in a Quality, Compliance, or QHSE role within a precision manufacturing or engineering environment
Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001 and Health & Safety legislation and systems
A knowledge of ISO 45001:2015 is desirable
Ideally an experienced Lead or Internal Auditor
Experience in managing inspections, 8D reports, NCRs, audits, and corrective actions
Confident communicator able to engage across production and management teams and with external interested parties
Highly organised, detail-oriented, and proactive
Comfortable operating both strategically and hands-on on the shop floor
Experience of ERP business systems
