Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people? Torus Foundation is looking for a dedicated Youth Worker (20 hours per week) to join our FireFit Youth Team. In this role, you'll help deliver a wide range of activities that encourage young people to get involved, build positive relationships, and take part in informal learning opportunities. Working closely with Lead Youth Workers, you'll play a key role in supporting young people's personal, social, and educational development, empowering them to reach their full potential. You'll also contribute to the planning and delivery of youth work programmes that respond directly to the needs of the community.
Hours & Shift Pattern:
This role is for 20 hours per week, worked across the following days and times:
* Monday: 4:45pm – 9:45pm
* Tuesday: 4:45pm – 9:45pm
* Thursday: 4:45pm – 9:45pm
* Friday: 4:45pm – 9:45pm
What you'll be doing:
* Deliver an exciting and varied programme of activities, including sports, creative arts, personal development, and youth voice initiatives.
* Work directly with young people (ages 6-21) in group settings and one-to-one sessions to support their social skills, confidence, and aspirations.
* Encourage young people to participate in group work, make new connections, and gain new experiences.
* Ensure young people are involved in designing, delivering, and evaluating programmes to create a youth-led approach.
* Maintain accurate records of participation, safeguarding concerns, and any incidents.
* Promote positive behaviour and discipline to maintain a safe and inclusive environment.
* Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people, always adhering to FireFit's policies and procedures.
* Actively promote the FireFit Hub, encouraging membership, attendance, and engagement.
What we're looking for:
* Level 2 Youth Work or relevant experience
* First Aid at Work qualification (or be willing to work towards)
* Experience of supporting young people in a 1-2-1 or small group setting.
* Experience of challenging behaviour of young people and knowledge of conflict management.
* Ability to establish a rapport and professional relationships with young people.
* Ability to encourage, motivate and provide support to children and young people.
* Experience of working with young people and evidence of understanding young people's development needs and the issues important to them.
* Experience of undertaking safeguarding in a setting which includes children, young people and vulnerable adults / groups.
Interview Process:
* Candidates will undergo in-person interviews, consisting of competency-based questions. Interviews will take place on Thursday 9th October.
