Pay Rate:
£32.80 per hour (paid weekly every Friday)
Contract Length:
Initial 12-week assignment with potential for extension
Working Hours:
Monday to Friday, 08:45 – 17:15
About the Role
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Social Worker to take on a Principal Social Worker position within a busy Family Help Team. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated Social Worker to provide leadership, guidance, and oversight in a frontline children’s services environment.
As a Principal Social Worker, you will play a key role in supporting practitioners, ensuring high standards of practice, and helping to deliver safe and effective services that improve outcomes for children and families.

Key Responsibilities
1. Provide practice oversight within a statutory children’s services setting
2. Support social workers to manage risk and make defensible decisions
3. Deliver reflective supervision and mentor less experienced staff
4. Quality assure casework and ensure high standards of practice
5. Support staff through service changes and restructuring
6. Work collaboratively with Team Managers and Family Help Coordinators
7. Promote effective multi-agency working and child-focused outcomes
Essential Requirements
8. Recognised social work qualification
9. Significant post-qualification experience within children’s services
10. Strong experience in safeguarding, thresholds, and risk management
11. Proven ability to support and develop other practitioners
12. Understanding of the Family Help model and multi-agency working
13. Evidence of post-qualifying study/awards (60 credits desirable)
14. Full UK driving licence and access to own transport
