About the Role
We are looking for a Lead Product Owner to join our eCommerce Developments team! Based from NEXT Head Office in Leicestershire, with a competitive salary range and great benefits. The Development team plays a key role within the eCommerce department, constantly working to improve our websites and mobile apps to deliver a seamless and engaging shopping experience for our customers. From enhancing site performance and functionality to implementing new features and technologies, the team ensures our eCommerce platforms are fast, reliable, and customer focused.
As the Lead Product Owner for our Mobile Apps, you will be the definitive product leader for NEXT Online's crucial mobile ecosystem. This is a highly visible and critical role where you will own the end-to-end product lifecycle for our customer-facing mobile applications (iOS and Android). You will be responsible for executing a world-class mobile strategy that delivers measurable business value and a seamless, high‑performing experience for millions of customers. You will guide a dedicated cross‑functional team and act as the subject matter expert, balancing commercial goals with technical feasibility.
Responsibilities
* Strategic Product Leadership: Define, champion, and own the product roadmap for the NEXT and Total Platform Mobile Apps, ensuring alignment with the wider eCommerce strategy and clear commercial objectives.
* Prioritisation and Value Delivery: Take full ownership of the product backlog, relentlessly prioritising initiatives to deliver value at pace in collaboration with the Head of Product/Product Channel Manager.
* Stakeholder Alignment and Communication: Proactively engage and manage a diverse group of senior internal stakeholders to capture business needs, manage expectations, and effectively communicate the product initiatives, alongside associated risks.
* Data-Driven Decision Making: Establish and track core Mobile App performance, product health and KPIs (e.g., conversion, retention, crash‑free sessions) and use in‑depth analytical insights and customer feedback to validate hypotheses and inform all product decisions.
* Empowering the Team: Lead daily product efforts, guiding the development team (Developers, QA, BAs) through Agile/SCRUM ceremonies and ensuring clarity in requirements, ultimately serving as the key driver for team progress and motivation.
About You
* Hands‑on experience of product ownership within retail, having worked in the digital / ecommerce sector.
* Thought leader in digital space, with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
* Can quickly and accurately identify any issues or risks associated with a project and implement a solution.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to talk to and present to a range of audiences.
* A passion for creating solutions with a positive attitude to change.
* Excellent analytical skills and an informed, evidence-based approach to defining success supported by analytical data.
* Experience of working in Agile environments and working with Agile / SCRUM methodologies.
* Highly motivated and hardworking with a professional attitude, who is able to work under pressure in a fast‑paced environment.
* Google for business / Microsoft Office proficient.
* Desired but not essential: experience using Agile tools such as ADO, JIRA or similar.
* Desired but not essential: experience with mobile app technologies.
