Application Deadline: 24 October 2025 Department: Marketing Location: HQ - Leatherhead Compensation: £38,000 - £42,500 / year Description The Events and Internal Communications Officer will support the planning, coordination and delivery of high-quality and high-profile events that support and engage our membership; and impactful internal communications that support organisational development, culture and transformation. You will be responsible for supporting national event and webinar design, administration, logistics and communications, and support creating and delivering engaging content and activities that align with the Federation’s communications strategy, with a particular focus on informing and inspiring our internal audiences. This will include nationally-significant events such as the prestigious Police Bravery Awards. You’ll bring insight and creativity to our internal communications and event planning and will support the wider communications function in the delivery of campaigns and member engagement. Key Responsibilities Plan, coordinate, and support the delivery of internal and external events, including briefings, conferences, awards ceremonies, and engagement activities Undertake a range of administrative and logistics support activities related to communications and event delivery Design and deliver a range of internal communications and event-related products aligned with the overarching Communications Strategy Research, write, and edit tailored content for internal audiences and event-related communications, including web articles, event programmes, speaker briefs, internal bulletins, presentations, and post-event summaries Prepare digital and print materials in line with PFEW’s brand and style guidelines, including internal updates, event collateral, signage, and delegate materials Contribute creative ideas to enhance internal communications and improve the quality, reach, and impact of event content and engagement activities Proofread and check all internal and event communications for accuracy, tone, and clarity Attend internal and external events to provide on-the-ground support, identify future communications opportunities, and gather feedback for continuous improvement Manage and update internal communications channels and event-related content across digital platforms, ensuring relevance, accuracy, and alignment with style and branding Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Proven experience in a communications role, with hands-on involvement in event logistics, admin, and organisation A track record of delivering creative content — in at least two of the following: written communications, graphic design (e.g. Canva), or basic video production/editing Excellent interpersonal skills, with the confidence to engage stakeholders at all levels and tailor communication styles to suit different audiences and settings Strong collaborator — able to work effectively across internal teams, external suppliers, and partner organisations to deliver events and internal initiatives Highly organised, with experience managing multiple priorities, timelines, and logistics in a fast-paced environment Confident using a range of digital tools and platforms — including intranets, email systems, and online event platforms Calm under pressure, with the ability to meet tight deadlines, solve problems quickly, and handle sensitive information with discretion Sharp eye for detail and accuracy — whether drafting written materials, preparing event collateral, or sending internal updates Experience in the public sector, trade unions, membership-based or not-for-profit organisations is a bonus Benefits We offer multiple benefits to our HQ employees including: flexible working, hybrid working, competitive salary, life assurance, private healthcare, enhanced pension contribution, enhanced leave, employee assistance program, onsite free lunches and refreshments, free onsite gym, free onsite parking, 26 days holiday (increasing with length of service), mental health clinics, support for continuous professional development, employee discounts and more….
