Job summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Housekeeper / Domestic Supervisor to lead our domestic team within our nursing home. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic environment for residents, staff, and visitors, while ensuring full compliance with Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) procedures and COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
* Supervise and support the day-to-day operations of the domestic team.
* Ensure all cleaning duties are completed to the highest standards across all areas of the Home, including resident rooms, communal areas and bathrooms.
* Monitor and maintain infection prevention and control practices throughout the Home, ensuring compliance with current IPC guidelines and protocols.
* Ensure all cleaning materials and substances are stored, handled, and used in accordance with COSHH regulations.
* Conduct regular audits and inspections of cleanliness and hygiene standards, taking corrective action where necessary.
* Provide training, guidance, and support to domestic staff, including induction for new team members.
* Liaise with nursing, care, and management teams to ensure the domestic service supports resident well-being and safety.
* Monitor stock levels of cleaning supplies and equipment, ordering as required and ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
* Report maintenance issues or hazards promptly to ensure a safe environment.
* Uphold residents' dignity, privacy, and comfort in all domestic activities.
Requirements:
Essential:
* Previous experience in a housekeeping or domestic supervisor role, ideally in a care, healthcare, or similar regulated environment.
* Strong understanding of Infection Prevention and Control measures.
* Knowledge and application of COSHH regulations.
* Ability to lead and motivate a team effectively.
* Excellent attention to detail and high cleanliness standards.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills.
* Organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities.
We are unable to provide sponsorship to the successful candidate. The role entails working 10-6pm, 5 days per week including every second weekend.
