This is a teaching Principal post with a financial allocation for 2 days per week.
Professional Duties of a Principal
* Formulating overall aims and objectives of the school and policies for their implementation.
* Participating in the selection and appointment of teaching and non‑teaching staff.
* Managing and delegating staff duties including cover for absent teachers and balanced workload.
* Maintaining relationships with teachers’ organisations and staff.
* Organising and implementing curriculum in line with pupil needs and resources.
* Evaluating teaching and learning standards and ensuring professional performance.
* Supporting staff development and training programmes.
* Monitoring pupil progress and implementing pastoral care policies.
* Promoting discipline and behaviour standards and enforcing conduct policies.
* Communicating with parents about curriculum and pupil progress.
* Representing the school externally and building community relationships.
* Providing liaison and reports to the Board of Governors and employing authority.
* Managing financial and material resources and ensuring school maintenance.
* Co‑ordinating school security and supervision of premises.
* Continuing professional development of the principal and staff.
* Arranging for vice‑principal cover and managing non‑attendance.

* Educational trends and curriculum knowledge (Northern Ireland Primary Curriculum).
* Strategic planning and leadership to drive improvement.
* Data management and assessment for tracking outcomes.
* Financial and resource management and governance.
* Effective communication with staff, parents, governors and the community.
Qualifications and Experience
* Teaching qualification recognised in Northern Ireland.
* Minimum 7 years post‑qualification teaching experience in primary education (or equivalent).
* At least 5 years of strategic leadership or whole‑school coordination experience in the last 10 years.
* Experience as a principal or vice‑principal preferred.
* Evidence of school improvement led by your leadership.
* Skill in staff development and building professional learning communities.
* Budgetary and financial management experience.

* Knowledge of curriculum, pedagogy, data management and organisational management.
* Ability to lead, motivate, challenge and inspire staff and pupils.
* Strong communication, organisational and time‑management skills.
* Sound financial governance and budgeting skills.
* Vision, integrity, advocacy, empathy and the ability to cope under pressure.
Applicants must be registered with the General Teaching Council for Northern Ireland upon taking up employment.
