At the Environment Agency, we work to protect people, communities and the environment by delivering long‑term, resilient outcomes. The Commercial Assurance and Framework Management (CAFM) team supports delivery units across the country, ensuring that commercial governance and value for money are achieved on all projects.
Responsibilities
 * Support the team that oversees the commercial governance of contracts with key consultancies and contractors, ensuring contractual and commercial interpretations are correctly applied.
 * Develop and manage pathfinder programmes that embed best practice and foster long‑term partnership arrangements.
 * Champion effective governance and commercial assurance across Integrated Delivery Management teams, building strong internal and external relationships.
 * Contribute to incident response duties when required, including training and active participation in incident response activities.
 * Assist with managing commercial risk, data and documentation, and produce minutes and reports that support decision‑making.
Qualifications and Experience
 * Level 3 qualification or equivalent, such as A‑Level or equivalent.
 * Strong communicator with interpersonal and influencing skills.
 * Experience in stakeholder management and strong data/document management abilities.
 * Commercial acumen – the ability to analyse business situations, manage proportionate risk and deliver value for money.
 * Organisational and administrative skills, including drafting minutes and reports.
 * Willingness to undertake professional qualification training (e.g., NEC, CIPS) and ask questions to drive development.
 * Interest in infrastructure, construction or environmental programmes.
Desired Education / Professional Requirements
 * Degree or equivalent professional qualification.
 * Progress towards status with a recognised professional body such as ICE, CIWEM, APM, CIPS or RICS.
 * Formal training in contract management (e.g., NEC, Contract Management Capability Programme).
