Overview
Strathallan School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, inspirational Peripatetic Visiting Music Tutor for Pipe Band Bass and Tenor Drumming to join its thriving Traditional Music Department for October 2025.
A Visiting Music Tutor inspires, enthuses, guides and motivates pupils through study, practice and performance of Traditional Music. The successful candidate will deliver learning and instruction in Pipe Band Bass and Tenor Drumming. There will be the opportunity to contribute to co-curricular activities offered by the department.
Responsibilities
* Provide tuition in Pipe Band Bass and Tenor Drumming to pupils from Year 1 to Upper 6th.
* Deliver learning and instruction to support pupils\' practice and performance.
* Contribute to co-curricular activities offered by the Traditional Music Department.
* Teach on Wednesdays (competition pipe band practices) with the understanding that hours may vary year to year depending on pupil recruitment.
Context
There is the potential for additional hours if enough pupils are recruited. Pupils practice towards performances at competitions and events across the world. The department has collaborated with bands such as Skipinnish, Skerryvore and The Red Hot Chilli Pipers.
