About the Role
As an SEN/SEND tutor, you'll provide tailored 1:1 tuition for KS1–KS5 students in the Wigan area, either at home or in community settings. Tuition takes place during school hours (09:30–16:00). Students may have SEND, SEMH, MLD, SLD, or medical needs, referred by local authorities or schools, requiring trauma-informed, holistic support.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan & Deliver Sessions: Lead engaging lessons tailored to each student's needs (mostly in-person).
* Tailor Lesson Plans: Use pre-prepared lessons to personalise for each student.
* Supportive Learning Environment: Foster academic and social-emotional growth.
* Progress Feedback: Complete reports and provide feedback.
* Safeguarding: Follow all safeguarding procedures—safeguarding is everyone's responsibility.
Requirements
Must:
* Full UK Driving Licence (for in-person sessions)
* Flexible to travel across Staffordshire
* Enhanced DBS, registered on the update service
* Professional teaching qualifications (QTS/QTLS)
* Experience with the British National Curriculum
* Right to work in the UK
Desirable:
* Minimum 2 years' teaching experience with SEND, SEMH, MLD, or SLD students
* Two professional references
