A specialist academy site in Basingstoke is seeking a committed and enthusiastic English Teacher to join their team on an initally temporary basis until Christmas. About the School
All-through provision for pupils aged 5 to 16
Primary diagnosis of Autism, with associated SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs
Small class sizes with high staff-to-pupil ratios
Emphasis on structure, consistency, and strong relationships
Many pupils have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
The Role
Teaching English to Key Stage 4 pupils
Some learners working towards GCSE level
Working as part of a supportive, multidisciplinary team
Delivering creative, differentiated lessons to meet a wide range of needs
Building strong, positive relationships with pupils
Candidate Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
Experience teaching English at KS4 (GCSE experience desirable)
Experience working with pupils with Autism and/or SEMH needs
Adaptable, resilient, and nurturing teaching approach
Commitment to safeguarding and inclusion
Safeguarding Requirements
Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service – or willingness to apply for one
