They have excellent relationships with their clients that means the majority of their work is repeat, negotiated business.
They are cash rich, typically make double digit margins on their projects, have an excellent supply chain who they pay promptly and treat with respect (we know this from our own experience of working with them!), staff turnover is also very low.
The Role
They want to recruit someone who has the drive and ambition to make a difference. They have a track record of giving people with the right attitude and capability the opportunity to prove themselves at a relatively early stage in their career. This role would really suit someone who wants to be given the chance to prove themselves and is maybe held back from doing this in their current role. You will ordinarily be office based but will be required to visit sites, suppliers etc. too.
Responsibilities
* Research and contact new suppliers initiating business relationships and partnerships
* Negotiate new contracts including rebates
* You will have overall control for ordering materials and plant and an involvement with subcontractors too
* Risk management
* Initiate spending controls where required
* Work closely with other departments putting in place and following robust processes and procedures that aid rather than hinder the construction business
Candidate profile
They would like to recruit an experienced Buyer / Senior Buyer who has worked in a similar role within construction previously and has the drive and ambition to make a difference.
You will have a good understanding of material and plant prices and ideally a network of contacts to benchmark against.
They have a good supply chain currently and are open to bringing new suppliers on board too.
You’ll need to be IT Literate and be able to interpret and analyse data.
You will need a Full UK Driving Licence.
