Purpose of the job
The Senior Building Services Engineer defines and distributes the scope of work to ensure that the project is executed safely, on time and at appropriate levels of quality. The Senior Building Services Engineer is responsible for the delivery of design and engineering to meet the requirements technical specification.
Key Accountabilities
1. Development of designs and documentation to satisfy the technical specification,
2. Production of design deliverables throughout the design process,
3. Checking/approval of discipline specific design deliverables,
4. Contribution to design reviews and safety reviews,
5. Ensuring quality and timely delivery of design documentation throughout all phases of the design process,
6. Compliance with safety legislation, industry codes and standards and statutory regulations,
7. Develop cost effective technical solutions,
8. Staff development,
9. Managing safety by developing and reinforcing the safety culture,
10. Management of contractors,
11. Provide technical consultancy,
12. Provide support during Site surveys, installation and commissioning.
Occupational Skills and Knowledge
13. Degree qualified in a relevant technical / engineering discipline or demonstrable experience,
14. Working towards, or already have, Chartership in a discipline specific engineering institution.
Duties and Requirements
Essential
15. Strong understanding of the fundamentals within your engineering discipline,
16. Previous experience in the design of Building Services (inc: Ventilation & Piped Services),
17. Proven track record of successfully delivering design solutions,
18. Good understanding of safety legislation and statutory regulations,
19. Strong organisational and interpersonal skills,
20. Good level of commercial awareness,
21. Experience of leading design teams,
22. Experience of managing sub-contracts,
23. Experience of bid preparation.
Desirable
24. Full membership of a discipline specific engineering institution and CEng status,
25. Knowledge of Design software capability and outputs,
26. Experience of Containment and process ventilation systems,
27. Experience of Design and Engineering substantiation,
28. Construction Site experience,
29. Experience of working in the Nuclear industry or other highly regulated industry.
