SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA)
Warrington (office-based, with 1 day per week WFH)
£45,000 – £55,000 DOE
I am currently working with a growing organisation that is looking to bring on board a highly skilled
SQL Server Database Administrator
. This is an excellent opportunity to join a forward-thinking IT team, where you'll play a key role in ensuring the performance, security, and availability of SQL Server databases across the business.
This role will suit someone proactive, technically strong and comfortable working across both project and BAU environments.
Key Responsibilities
* Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases.
* Monitor and optimise database performance.
* Manage database security, permissions, and roles.
* Implement and oversee backup, recovery and disaster recovery procedures.
* Maintain high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions such as Always On, clustering, and log shipping.
* Carry out health checks, capacity planning and performance analysis.
* Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to support database solutions.
* Troubleshoot incidents, provide root cause analysis and support production systems 24/7 when required.
* Automate routine administrative tasks.
* Maintain clear documentation on processes and configurations.
Key Skills & Experience
* Proven experience as a SQL Server DBA.
* Strong knowledge of SQL Server 2016, 2019 and Azure SQL.
* Expertise in HA/DR solutions (Always On, clustering, log shipping, replication).
* Strong understanding of database security and compliance.
* Performance monitoring and query tuning experience.
* Backup/restore strategies and DR planning expertise.
* Familiarity with Windows Server environments and Active Directory.
* Exposure to cloud database technologies (Azure SQL Database, Managed Instances).
* Scripting/automation skills (PowerShell or similar).
