Your Mission:
As a Principal Product Safety Engineer, you will play a vital role in our Integrated Development Team, dedicated to developing and delivering cutting-edge submarine systems. Your focus will be on ensuring that all Product Safety tasks are completed efficiently across multiple systems, supporting project milestones throughout the Engineering Life Cycle Management.
Key Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with the Integrated Development Team to drive submarine systems development.
* Ensure Product Safety tasks are completed across various systems.
* Support Hazard Identification and Analysis studies.
* Assist in generating safety reports.
* Ensure compliance with the project Safety Management System.
* Liaise with other teams and the Whole Boat Safety Team.
Your Skills and Experience:
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (predicted or obtained 2:2).
* Understanding of Safety and Systems Engineering and the Engineering Life Cycle Management.
* Experience working in teams and independently delivering tasks.
* Agility in adapting to changing work practices and customer expectations.
* Self-motivated with strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Practical experience as a Product Safety Engineer in the maritime defense sector is preferred, but other sectors will be considered.

About the Product Safety Team:
We are excited to announce the opening of a brand-new office in Coventry as part of our growth in BAE Systems Submarines. We are actively recruiting for various roles to support our submarine programs, which are crucial to our national defense.
If you’re passionate about understanding submarine operations and the Royal Navy’s capabilities, this role is perfect for you! As a Product Safety Engineer, you will influence submarine systems and capability development, ensuring that safety is prioritized in system interactions.
This role offers a unique opportunity to engage in all aspects of safety management and safety case delivery, including:
* Safety requirements capture and management.
* Hazard identification and analysis.
* Hazard data management.
* Application of the ALARP principle.
* Creation and maintenance of safety documentation.
* Continuous improvement of the safety management system.
